Despite being thought of as an easy job, becoming a sperm donor actually requires you to jump through a few hoops. First, you must be at least 5'11" and between the ages of 18 and 35. Also, you must be drug free, have a clean bill of health, and the last thing, which most people don't expect, is you must have a college degree. These requirements are in place for you to see if it's safe for you to share your genes.
If you meet these requirements, you now need to find a sperm bank to donate to. A good way to locate one is online. Simply type 'sperm banks in my area' into your favorite search engine. Once you have found a sperm bank that is right for you, call them and tell them you are interested in becoming a sperm donor. They will then make an appointment with you for a consultation.
Consultations are about the same for every clinic. They basically want to see how good looking and successful you are. The better looking, smarter, and successful you are, the greater the chances of you becoming a sperm donor.
If approved for donation, you will then need to make three sample donations. With these, they will test the quality of your sperm. This includes checking the sperm count, ability to be frozen, and check for any sperm deformation. It is also time for the clinic to verify your medical history. You must provide medical records for your entire family and then take a full medical exam.
Finally, after passing the medical examination, you are a full fledged sperm donor. The fun doesn't stop there, though; you will be required to take a medical exam every three months to make sure you stay healthy.
